Title: Technika LED32-248 Stuck in standby
Post by: kumarj on March 06, 2017,13:25:25
Hi, I would like help with this TV please. The TV has a constant red light. I have checked PSU and all voltages are correct (except I think my multi-meter needs replacing/calibrating).
So, I have checked all other boards and connected/disconnected ribbon/connectors and still no joy.
However, if I sit there and continue to cycle power switch and power button after 5-10 minutes the led will turn blue.
Sometimes it will stay blue until I switch it off but very occasionally the TV will come on and work perfectly.
The side buttons all work as they should at this time.
It will stay on until I switch it off and after that it stays on red standby again with the same fault.
Does this mean that the PSU is definitely ok? The caps all look ok and there is no noise or smell.
I am leaning towards the eeprom which I have read about on the net and wonder if this is the culprit?
So I am asking if anyone can help or am I barking up the wrong tree!

Thanks

Jet

Hi ,
I have same TV with stuck in standby problem.I couldn't get eeprom dump from same TV,for testing I write dump from Condor 32f311.Now Tv working fine but control buttons doesn't match meanings and I don't have original remote control to test all TV functions, universal remote doesn't work with TV.
If you have eeprom reader you can read the dump and send it me,I can test it in my TV.

Forgot to mention, Tv is not mine but my friend who has lost his remote.
I don't have an eeprom reader/writer as I only fix for family and friends now and again.
Do you think it is definitely the eeprom?

Hi Kumarj,

Eeproms usually either work, or they don't. As your set comes on at times, suspect the problem is elsewhere. Maybe try heating to see if it comes on sooner, then try isolate where heat makes a difference - Good luck - Chris.

Thanks for the info Chris. Thing is, as I have read in another forum, when I used a freezer spray (air duster upside down) on the u8 ic (the eeprom) it turns on more often and continues to work. I don't touch any other part of the tv, just the eeprom. So, I have purchased a second hand board to see if it will cure the problem and only then will I really know if it was the eeprom or not. If not, I will try your method of heating up.

Hi Jet,

Gather your set is a 'UMC' - Supermarket special famed for Eeprom issues, but generally they're permanent. Will be nice to see how you do with a new SSB - Chris.

The idea of freezing the eeproms came originally from this video i think i have used this method a few times and it does work i recomend proper freeze spray as air duster upside down dosnt seem to get as cold as the correct freeze spray

Hi,

Have heard that with some Technika sets stuck in S/by - Heat Eeprom, quickly read - blank it then re-load to existing chip.

Never had any luck myself but guess it works sometimes - Technika putting their label on whatever is cheapest at the time - Chris.

I have read that heat can make them readable too but havnt had a set too try it on for a while its mainly failed leds at the minute and hate doing them as risk of lcd panel damage.

Hi all. Replacement second hand board came today and after fitting the tv works perfectly. My friend will be happy as it only cost £20. I am 99% sure it was the eeprom. Vinceroger69 is right that the air duster upside down does not get as cold as a proper freezer can as I had to do it a few times before the old board got going. I did not go near anything else with the air duster can. I did not want to mess around buying a reader etc to rewrite eeprom as I only do it for a hobby and would probably had never used it again (famous last words).
So thanks again for all the help and advice I really appreciated it.
Hope it helps someone out.
