Title: Dyson DC34 - portable Vac - no go.
Post by: Turnip on November 11, 2014,12:04:19
Hello folks,

Had one in today, where on pressing the go button, the Green Led would flash and the motor just twitch. Thought duff Lithium battery, so checked it with a decent load, and battery wasn't duff.

On to YouTube, where seems three ancillary battery connectors (as it's Lithium and liable to explode) were regarded suspect and needed a clean-up - did that - still no go.

Another chap on the Tube suggested dodgy soldering to the three feedback connectors were suspect.

Motor plastic backplate moulding seems secured by a single screw, but after removing, suspect it's glued on, as couldn't remove it without causing considerable damage - So didn't bother.

Seems very Dyson - Technology 'Triffic - construction - Total Crap - Chris.

Dyson only give a years guarantee on battery models, says it all really. No spares available, and as you say, Chris, you can't get them apart with serious damage, i won't even consider taking them in!!

Hi Keith,

Work with a chap who brings me tellies to try mend and makes his pound from Dyson machines where folks don't clean the filters so the motors go phut as the built in over temperature fuse goes O/C, and you can't get them apart to change it - Motors for most early ones now cheap on the Flea, so his pound is made.

Suspect the DC34 is a little different, and if I could get the back off - might discover. Hope cust doesn't want a new motor assy (Flea for £50) but bin it so I can hack it apart and discover the problem. Gather it's brushless, so suspect shorted FETs - Would be nice to know - Chris.
