 Hi Sam, does another letter appear in the left of the display, eg R, T, C, D or P. These are fault codes.
R = Reel/capstan mech not working correctly.
T = Tape loading not working correctly.
C = Cassette loading not working correctly.
D = Drum not working correctly.
P = Power On +5V safety detect.

see how ya go.

Service manual has been uploaded just for you.

Hi Sam,

Service manual is sometimes half the battle, then you gotta win the war. Good luck.

Hi Bruce,

Discovered it's a VHS/DVD combi with 120Gb HD - Folks never say, expect Heros' to know.

Gather you did - there could be a great future behind you.

Natch concerned, as PS voltages seem suspect, but can't yet check shematic, as you didn't upload one for other Heros' to inspect.

Wife has serious issues needing attention, so need a shematic to keep me in the shed - Chris.

Hi Chris,

Yeah, my crystal ball is looking a bit knocked around.

Question: How can my future be behind me...some type of antithesis or a Turnipism.

I just checked the service manual I uploaded...schematics are there...or am I missing something.

Sorry to hear about the wifey. Now,back to the mancave.  Bruce

Hi Bruce,

Just typical British humour - Goons - Doug Adams and so forth, possibly much earlier.

Could well be an antithesis, if I knew what one was - will check wiki.

Wife is fine if she suspects I'm earning the pound, but has natural house upkeep thoughts if she suspects I'm not, as she usually does.

Few caves in Suffolk. Like Norfolk, a bit flat, all sand and flints and yearly loosing yards of stuff to the sea.

Have several book suggestions, as all real writing folks tramp our narrowing coasts interminably.

Nice manual - haven't yet checked shematics as only just got it.

True Hero stuff Bruce - Chris.
