Title: Panasonic tx-l42e5b
Post by: moosemaurice on May 11, 2020,09:59:09
I've got one that recently was switching on but no sound or picture until reset, now won't come on at all. I've checked the power supply and all voltages seem OK even stripped the screen and checked the leds individually and all lighting up OK. It's not showing any fault codes, is it possible that it's needing firmware update or is it likely to be the main av panel that's faulty? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Check C119 on the LED Drive board for short circuit and fuse PA7401 on the PSU for open circuit.                             Bruce

Thanks for the reply. I've checked the fuse and it's alright, as for c119 I don't have a capacitance meter to get the value of it but it isn't reading short with my multi meter, there is a voltage coming off the led driver board of 24v on pin1 of cn301.

If it's not displaying error codes you've probably bricked the main board. I've uploaded the downunder version of the service manual
(TH-L42E5A) to the forum. Perhaps it may prove useful.                          Bruce

Thank you for your reply and the link to the manual, on checking the supplies on the manual all my supplies seem alright, I had an idea that the main board had gone as there wasn't any fault codes but liked the second opinion, shame as was a good TV, don't think I'll spend money on a new board as the only app working was netflix and a replacement TV wouldn't cost much more.
