Many thanks for your reply My went down with the laser and as I understand via Panasonic the DVD mech should be replaced complete with the Digi board together.If the unit becomes available please advise me of the total cost?

Hi Allan,
That's what Panasonic say, because the digital module holds the software for the dvd loader, but many's the time I've replaced just the loader, sometimes from a different Panasonic model, with no ill effect. There may be slightly different software versions for a particular model, but let's face it, they're mass produced. However, if you feel that the pcb needs to be replaced, by all means do so. Bruce.

Hi Allen,
Cust collected it today as it still records/plays tapes. Guess problem was DVD loader as Bruce suggests.
Glad I bought a Toshiba - admit no VCR but a good DVD mech and hard drive.
Use an old LG combi for conversions - confess the mode switch cocks up every year or so, so gets a squirt that seems to sort it for a while - Chris.
10/4/15 Cust brought it back again as DVB board has died, as they do - still plays tapes though.
