Hi guys; i have a Vizio E321VL dead with blown fuse,can you please advise on what other components should i check before i replace fuse and turn it on?i checked some of components on the board and there are 4 mosfets 2 of them see pic, i circled the 2 mosfets kf5n50 that test short in circuit,don't know if these are bad!any help would be appreciated.

The two FETs (circled) will be toast. Check the main regulator STR-W6053 for shorts as well as the bridge rectifier below the fuse for shorts.
If the dead FETs are on the cold side of the power supply, I'd say they've merely failed. Replace them and in place of the fuse, substitute a 100W 240V
lamp. This will protect the components against failure if other problems exist. If the lamp lights up brightly when mains is applied, you still have problems.

Thanks Bruce;i'm trying to find STR-W6053N,regulator KN0N60,and Mosf KF5250, and i can't find them anywhere.

Don't know which country you're in, silva, but UT Source (China) stocks them, cheap as chips, lol. I've been very happy with their service. You don't have to buy in bulk, just ones or twos, but there is about 10 days delivery time. And they use Paypal. Bruce

Thanks that looks like the surf-mount mosfet KF5250,here a pic of it,
Also I just learned that KNON60 is a Mosfet not a regulator,there are here a few close to the KN0N60 #,are any of these suitable to replace it?

Where did this KN0N60 number come from. It is not a typical FET number. Same with KF5250. Your original comment on KF5N50 is a more logical number where '5' represents a 5 amp current capability, and '50' represents a 500 volt limit.
So any N-Channel FET using similar numbers with the same encapsulation should fit the bill. Bruce

Well; i ended up by ordering from shopjimmy the repair kit for my board PLHC-A942B 0500-0412-1300,and i'll post results,hope the Epprom is not bad,thanks.

Thanks downunder; the SM Fets are part of the kit,Q706,Q707,but Q602,IC150 i think are also bad and are in the kit.

Hi Guys;;i have good news; my Vizio E321VL is up and running,the following components were used to make the repair;F601,Q602 Mosfet KN8N60,IC150 STR W6053N, Q606,Q607 Mosfes KF5N50.
Note the replacement for the SM mosfet KF5N50 Q606,Q607 were T220 cases instead of the SM so i had to adapt them to the bottom of the board,see link.
I think the Q602 Mosfet KN8N60, and IC150 STR W6053N,are good but since i had them out and had the New repair kit i went ahead and replaced those and kept the old ones for future repairs.Thanks for all your help on this,appreciate.

Also won't the TO220 mosfets last long due to heat? i wonder why Shopjimmy sent me these TO 220 mosfets since Q706 Q707 are SM mosfets and are part of the Kit i received from Jimmy,this is wrong,i already contacted Jimmy about it ,if i don't get the right ones i will never buy anything from him.

Hi silva, I reviewed your pictures, and on consideration, the tiny bit of print that the original FETs are attached to would only provide next to zero heat dissipation. The absence of heat discolouration bears this out. As they're mounted on the print side of the board, they're probably subjected to more external heat from the rear of the display panel, than internal operational heat, so I shouldn't worry about it too much.
If in doubt, run the TV for a substantial period, then feel the FETs for temperature level.If they appear to be overheating, perhaps you can fashion a heatsink for them out of aluminium, or use a strip of heat transfer rubber they seem to use widely these days, between the board and panel.

Hey, stop stressing, silva. I'm not saying they wont last. They're up to the task and as the originals had zero heatsinking, the new ones are no worse off.
Never dealt with Shop Jimmy, but they seem to have a good name and have probably done their homework on the kit. Bruce

Hi guys;today i decided to reopen my Vizio E321VL since the mosfets heating issue kept bugging me,and when something is bugging me i keep thinking on it and never stop till a fix it otherwise i don't sleep well,he.he,he.. i did check the temperature with my Fluke for about 5 minute with tv running to the existing mosfets without the heat sink,and it went up to 60C*,
So story short i had 2 extra KF5N50 TO220 mosfets and a few Heat Sinks in my scrap,
i made 3 holes in the board in each one,and the end result was this see attachment pics.

Thanks bro for you concern, but don't worry i'm strong as a bull,have a heart that stands a bull, i never ease up when it comes to this stuff,i love it,i'm retired and i don't work for nobody it's my hobby and it's the only thing i love to do,electronics and computers stuff,everything was learned by my self and of-course play my Yamaha Psrs910 keyboard,by the way here a sneak pick,see my YouTube Channel.
