Title: Ipod nano - 4th generation.
Post by: Turnip on October 28, 2014,13:12:31
Hi folks,

Daughter has one where the Li-Pol battery is suspect.

Bought a few from the Flea to investigate.

Found most dropped into water, and others where folks had squirted stuff meant to sort things.

Checked YouTube, and attach a sorta' flow chart, as I tried sort.

Might be useful, would enjoy thoughts - Chris.

Hi thoma - Nice one,

Will check it out, as great to get some ideas as to why they still don't work or aren't recognised by the computer after battery is replaced.

Guess generally a main board problem that folks on YouTube don't mention, as every mend is always successful.

Thanks a lot - must get a working one to prove computer and lead is OK.

Got involved with an early one with a 20Gb hard drive a while ago - No  problems at all, loaded enough stuff to get chum from UK to NZ without a break - and back again as currently Australia and NZ were loosing him transferred cash - gather he lost 4 Grand on the transfer as he mis-judged probabilities.

His Ipod was really good though.

PS - later had another go - Original lead was duff for some reason, and a known good Ipod showed up as the biz.

Tried the one where I'd changed the battery - wouldn't light up or link to Itunes. Took it apart again, and once more changed the battery. Found it then linked up to Itunes, who did a reset -

All well, but now the click switch didn't work - guess now a duff click flexy, although I took trouble to keep it away from the LH side, where sliding board in with flexy badly placed, cuts the flexy

Also the hold flexy broke off, but no probs as doesn't stop functioning.

Suspect flexies invariably break after two repair attempts, even if one is well careful.

Noted a couple of spring contacts between the logic and the click board - suspect it's where the credit card repair forces up the springs to make contact.

Must get more cadavers from the Flea, as Ipods are such fun, but not yet earners - gather 5th Generation has a camera and a talking click wheel - Can't wait - Chris.
