Title: Sony X900E - Diagnostic Flow
Post by: EduAQA on July 10, 2021,07:31:34
Good Morning all.
I'm trying to follow the diagnostic flow on the service manual for Sony X900E series, and on the flow it reference components ... just as example it says in one of the several test:
"Check POWER_MAIN C409 near CN400 on B* board"
So i found on the board CN400, it is identified, however C409 (or any other capacitors that appear on the next flows) are not identified.
for example another flow says "Check VDD C506 Voltage Is the voltage >3.0V?", same thing, there not identification for C506
and so on, many others ... The only thing identified in the board are the CN (connectors), some IC, but not R, nor C identification
I looked at both side of the board, and nothing.
Any idea how to identify those components?

So, presumably you mean KD-55X9000E. These circuit references are often 4 digit numbers -often they omit the first digit. Ther are also components on the underside of the circuit boards. I'll upload KD55X9000C to the downloads section. Perhaps it will be more helpful as they use all 4 digits in their references. 9000C is the Oceania version.       Bruce

Thanks for the reply Bruce.
The actual model is xbr-65x900e, but the board is the same for 55,65,75
Now taking the manual you upload as example as I'm also not understanding the flow, for example on page 124 it says " Check R9186 Voltage ...."
But how to find the R9186 on the board? I remember some board has the identification of the components, but, this board don't have, the only components identified are the IC and F

capacitors (C) and resistor (R), don't have the identification painted on the board.

Just in case for this model specific the components are just in one side.

Well, that is a headache. What is wrong with the TV?

It’s completely dead
No red codes (the diagnostic LED, don’t turn with any blinking)
Tried hard reset (power on, and -volume) and plug the cable, nothing
I have 24v, 12v and 3.3v on the connector
Following the flow on the service manual it ask to check voltage on some (C)apacitors and (R)esistors, and depending on the result change some IC … but here is the problem … how to find this components on the board, because the board don’t have stamped the identification
I think was suppose to be on the service manual on the PCB draw session, but its totally blurred

Don't think I can give any diagnostics on that info. In any case the outcome on flow charts is to replace boards rather than components. My gut feeling is a faulty main board - it's the downfall of the W and X series Sonys.

For the line xbr x900e there are several flow that Do Not end on replace the board
There are several flows that ends on replace components
The problem is how to identify the test points
