Hi Al,

Have had a few of these where Fuse F801 was blown on the power supply. If you renew the fuse and turn the TV on, you may see a flash arc out of the base of IC501 (MIP3E50MY) a three-legged device in bottom left of the power board. If so, you will have to replace this device, as well as the fuse. Number on the IC may vary. Last lot I had to get from China.

Hope it's that simple for you and don't forget to discharge the big ripple filter.

Bruce

PS: If it helps, I've uploaded the TH-P50VT20A service manual to the downloads area.

Hi Al,

F801 on the local models lies just left of centre on the PSU, from memory. Bear in mind that IC501 is on the hot side of the PSU, so make sure you use the appropriate earth.

Interesting that the meter causes the relay to click. The IC is marked as STB CONTROL. A strange device with terminals marked D,S and C. Perhaps it is faulty and not being triggered, but couldn't say for sure.
On the ones I had, IC501 measured a bit of leakage out of circuit.
