Hi,
got Samsung PS-50q97HD Led flashes and stays on, but no picture. Opened up and there was C4712 popped. Replaced that and still nothing. Got green led on Ysus. All the fuses ok, had a quick look no shorts on X-main board.
Does anyone has any ideas?
This is my first plasma, dont have much clue whats were :)
Cheers

hello m8, i've got 1 of these myself i found the same fault. you may find that some of the fets on the y sus board are short circuit and the buffer boards are burn't out these are located on the left hand side of the tv as you look from the back you can buy a repair kit for the board but you will need new buffer boards. you can spend a lot of money on this just to find out that the screen as burn't out sorry

Thanks, i will have to check on y board.
Can the screen burn out in 4 years? I dont like plasmas allready - lcd'd are so much easier to work on.
cheers

You were right, 2 fets on y board are short 88n30w.
-
And yes, Upper buffer board has burned chip. If i knew that pdp is ok, then its worth repairing, but...
-
Ok, replaced one buffer ic and a fet. Got picture, 1/5 of screen and not very clear.
Any thoughts?
And screen seems to be split right in the middle, one side darker than other.

the buffers are still bad. you will need a new top & bottom buffer mate as they are common to failing. these are what caused the y-sus to blow.
-
If the y-sus has been checked and is OK just replace the upper y-buffer and all will be ok. done several of these sets and the panel is usually ok. just inspect it using an illuminated magnifying glass carefully, looking for distinctive burnt out pixels....

Damn you, i bought lower y buffer - it was cheaper. Will put just lower one in and test the set.
