Title: Panasonic TX-P42S31B - No go.
Post by: Turnip on August 14, 2016,10:52:25
Hi folks,

Not a plasma fan, but have the above set where at switch on, the Led flashes quickly 5 times and nothing else happens.

Any thoughts ? - Thanks - Chris.

Hi Chris,

Error code 5 is typically the SC board (= Y=Sus in LG terms). Check for a short across Connector SC2 on the SC board.

If none found, disconnect the buffers SU and SD completely from the SC - no electrical contact must remain between SC and the buffers.
Short the 2 pins on SC50 and power the tv on.
Still get code 5or 7 = SC FAILED.
Code 5 gone - SU &/or SD FAILED.

There are SC repair kits available but I've heard of a lot of techs repairing and having the SC fail immediately. I prefer SC replacement.
Off the the flea.                 Bruce

Hi Bruce and thanks,

Went as far as to have a look for a SC board - Nothing about in the UK, though plenty of P/S, Mains and Buffers.

Not too sorry it's 'Oil Drum Row' for a Plasma - Deff. the best place - Chris.
