Took in a 60 PV250 last week with a zsus fault, now thats repaired (and all the screws back in obviously) occasionally It will just sit and click then click back to standby every few seconds. Definitely seems to be power supply as disconnecting y and z sus make no difference. Anyone had this fault or can shine any light on it.
Thanks in advance.

Update. Seems to be only when in standby and cold constant clicking and standby led going out roughly every 2 seconds for about a minute or two. Changed standby res capacitor and still the same.

I'd suspect the main board. Try heating it up before you turn the tv on and see if it makes any difference. Possibly ball joints on the micro.

It can do it when the set has been on for a while and switched back to standby, was half suspecting the str standby IC

You may be right, but I find STRs are not prone to this type of behaviour. They usually work or are totally inoperative, and heat generally improves their performance.
Is it possible to force the PSU on with the main board disconnected and then monitor the PSU's operation. Bruce

It is yes but unfortunately it doesn't fault very often so its impossible to say if its made any difference.

How about disconnecting the main board and the LVDS cable, short out the Auto Gen test points R51/R52, and run it on test patterns for as long as necessary. If it keeps running, then the main board is faulty. If it reverts to clicking relay, I'd be inclined to think PSU.

I've uploaded the service manual but there's diddly squat in them these days, so it might be as useful as a jock strap in a blizzard.

It never reverts to clicking relay, its only when its in standby it does it as if its trying to switch on. When its on it stays on.
