Odd one this,TV works fine, except for teletext, press text button on r/c,please wait comes up on screen, top right corner, but no further action. One odd thing,if you go to menu select sub titles on,you get sub titles!.I know this is an oldish set now,but lives in an antique cabinet, perfect fit & the guy who owns it is,well dinosaur. Are there any software upgrades for this problem? Is the text generated on the free view module or the main a.v. board. Many thanks John.

Hi John,
Teletext is transmitted by a certain channel or channels as part of the free-to-air signal, so I can't imagine the AV board being a problem. Suspect it will be a main board problem. I assume the tuner is on the main board. Sub-titles or sub-text is a separate
thing and not reliant on teletext. Have just uploaded the service manual to QUUQ.

Hi Bruce, the tuner / free view is a separate board on these TV's,if I remember rightly, they call it FEE module.

Teletext stopped working a number of years ago!
The only features available on Freeview are:
Tune to BBC1, ITV1 or Channel 4, then press the Red button on your Freeview remote. Alternatively, the service is available on special channels: channel 101 (Teletext), 105 (BBC Red Button), 104 (Channel 4 Teletext) or 108 (Sky Text). Though how up to date this is I have no idea, as I cannot remember using the service until you asked!
Good luck
Regards Anthony

Thought as much. Vanished from Australian tv about 12 years ago. A victim of digital technology, I guess. Bruce

Hi guy's,when I say teletext,I mean digital text, not the old system.I've noticed in the workshop, over last few day's across differing brands, very slow operation of system from please wait taking a fair while to Vestels saying on first button push function not available second attempt system works. Not something I ever use myself, but my old customer is a dinosaur. He's actually thinking about a new set now.
