H guys ,have got one that has a dodgy cooling fan . Have put oil on it and cleaned with compressed air but still stops every month and the TV just comes up like a laptop saying fan not working and TV cuts out. Just wondered if the fan can be shorted out or does it have to be replaced . Cant see the need for a fan when none of the other Samsungs use a fan. Fan has small plug with 3 wires red ,yellow and black . Red has 9v on it black seems to be earth and yellow when fan stopped has 2v on it but when fan working has 0v . Plug goes into main board . Friend of family so if it can be shorted out would save them £30 on new one otherwise would replace if paying customer, any ideas , thanks

Hi Kenny,
Try shorting the yellow wire to ground at the main board side. I found that this removes the feedback to the micro so that it doesn't trigger the fan error.
If this works, then you could try unplugging the fan altogether so that it doesn't affect the 9V rail..........Bruce

Hi Bruce, between posting and reading your message spoke to a guy at a spares place . He said to disconnect the fanand short the yellow and the black wires together and that has worked . If you disconnect the fan you still get the same message . Will leave running on test to make sure its OK . If anything else happens to TV will let you know ,thanks for your help

Personally speaking I would use a 12V pc fan of the same size that has either a 2 or 3 wire connection. Just disconnect yellow wire from fan and connect red and black to the wiring. The yellow wire on the PC fan just monitors the speed of the fan details here http://www.pcbheaven.com/wikipages/How_PC_Fans_Work/
As you have stated bridge the yellow wire to ground job done and cooling still taking place.
That way you have cooling I guess for the TCON board.
