Title: LG 47LN613S - Backlight issue.
Post by: Turnip on December 11, 2016,10:53:45
Hi folks,
Got one in today where the backlight cuts after a few seconds. Seems it's generally a duff Led issue as usual, especially with recent LG it seems - looking on line.

Mention as chap on Ebay sells individual new LG Leds at £6.45 for 10, possibly much cheaper for 100 or so.

Would be really nice if we could remove the entire Led panel from the back, leaving screen and diffusers in place, would then be a doddle, but too much to hope for - Could go round with a tin opener perhaps - Chris.

Ive just done a 50" Cello..the one where you take off the middle of the back to see the gubbins. When I removed all the screws after disconnecting the ribbon cables, the entire chassis came away leaving the LED panel on the bench. Much better idea as I wasnt looking forward to removing the thin screen. The strips were 2 7s joined so as my 30v power supply would only check one half, I had to scrape at each LED to check them. Turned out 1 was o/c and 1 was s/c, enough to trip protection circuit. Unfortunately after all that hassle there was a line of faulty pixels down the screen. :03:

I did a 50" LG last week, always a heart in the mouth experience. As you say,if you could undo some screws & remove back & led's,it would be a doddle,I guess screws cost money.

Screws would make it servicable
Poor profit so they wont do it.
I mean how easy would it be for the metal back to be 2 peice and to screw off and you service the strips ..

Or maybe push-in Leds in economy heat sink holders - Bit like Crimble lights used to be.

Otherwise connect 'em all in parallel with individual smd fuses built in so folks don't notice when a few go O/C.

Three volts at 15 amps shouldn't be a problem for a few parallel Schottky's, and give nice thick leads to the screen - Chris.

Speaking of screws, Samsung have now done away with them. The cabinet is clipped together like a remote control, with a special tool to
release it. Just google BN81-12884A.               Bruce

Great news, can't wait for those ones to come along, the cowboy's will have a field day with clips. Some of the Vestel's can be a bit of a challenge, both screws & clips.
