Title: Sony KDL-50W656A - Screen issue ?
Post by: Turnip on March 05, 2017,07:22:49
Hi folks,

Got one in, couple years old maybe, where sound and backlight are fine but just a low glow from the screen which might indicate the T/con supply fuse has popped, but T/con appears incorporated at the bottom of the screen.

Wonder if anyone has sorted the problem ?  Gather screen failures on this vintage are common.

Thanks for your thoughts - Chris.

Hi Chris,

T-Con not incorporated on the main board, as some are wont to do these days? If there are two flexies going into the panel, you could try disconnecting

one at a time to see it you get half a screen. Did this to diagnose a faulty LG last week - one flexi off got me half a picture, reconnected it and took the

other one off, no picture whatsoever in either half. Bon chance.  -  Bruce

Hi Bruce, thanks,

This is a sort'a single most everything board set with external 19v 6.2a P/S. Noticed a single flat flexie heading for the screen at the bottom.

Nearest manual I could find was KDL-42W654 which has few pictures and no schematics or part numbers, but it's good on error flash codes.

My set doesn't flash so guess it doesn't realise the problem exists - Maybe no feedback from the screen drive ? - Chris.

Customer later realised he had a 5 year guarantee - Nice one.
