Title: Toshiba 24D3433DB Vestel 17MB95S-1 No Picture
Post by: HRepairs on May 10, 2017,17:02:43
Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum but have been a tinkerer for a while.

Anyhow, I've got a Vestel set with a strange fault:

When I plug the power in the LED status flashes between red and green for a few seconds, then settles on solid red.

If I press the power the power button, then the LED flashes red and green for a few seconds. Then the backlight comes on for about 30 seconds with a blank screen (LED still flashing red and green). Then the LED goes black after the 30 seconds as if I've unplugged the power. Then after a few seconds comes back on and repeats the cycle.

I've tried reflashing the firmware but must be doing something wrong. Got the official upgrade_mb90.bin from the Toshiba wesite and placed it onto a usb flash drive formatted in FAT 16 as per the instructions. Then tried powering up the set with the OK button pressed on the remote, but I'm not getting anywhere.

Wondering if anyone on here knows what I'm doing wrong and any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Welcome to the good ship.... we were all new once!

You say the backlights come on, is the screen evenly lit? Also check for any bulged or leaky electrolytics in the power supply.

Thanks for the quick reply Davy.

The PSU seems fine and the screen also looks to be evenly lit.

Thanks

Hi HR,

Just a thought - Flash drives are usually formatted FAT 32 as FAT 16 is antiquated and has modernity  issues. Probably wrong, but thought mention - Chris.
