Title: Celcus DLED4827FHD - S/by flashing - No go - Vestel.
Post by: Turnip on September 15, 2017,11:12:42
Hi folks,

Have one in where initially it worked perfectly, so I wondered why they brought it in.

Next day from cold there was a constant Red flash from the S/by Led - Nothing else.

Vestel boards 17IPS71 and 17MB82S - Any thoughts ? - Thanks, Chris.

It is usually the flash ic getting corrupted. I have heard a few people getting results from freezing  the flash ic then reading contents out. Try freezing it in circuit and try to operate it. If it starts working then refreeze it and read contents out of the flash ic and then burn a new flash ic and put it on the board. Alternatively warm the ic up a little and see if it works!
Good luck :)

Hi Cheeky, and thanks.

Had heard of that Vestel dodge and tried it a time or two. This may be a little different as the set starts almost every other time it's turned on, and when it's on, it stays on. Not at all sure if an Eeprom might do that, and issue doesn't seem temperature sensitive.

Had thought to try a generic USB update for the 17MB82S but suspect being a Celcus, it might be different and foul the whole thing up.

Now if I could load the existing stuff to a USB dongle it would be useful as could reload if it fouls up. Tried save Vestel soft/firmware several times - No success to date as there doesn't seem to be a service menu option to do it.

Had a look on YouTube where a chap with a cold tried update the 17MB82S board by first freezing the two Eeproms on a JMB 32 inch set - Seems he doesn't much like Vestel sets but managed update to a Hitachi version using original Eproms - Bit dubious - Chris.

Eventually got SSB - Same model from Emos - Set OK and copied the bin for luck.
