Title: Orion TV-37094
Post by: norman on April 02, 2009,11:23:23
Hi guys, I have this tv for repair. The backlights go out after a second. I have checked the caps in the psu and all the transformers on the inverter board for open circuit/shorted turns. I have also checked the board closely for dry joints. The numbers on the board are VK8A183 10207. I have done a search on the internet and can't find this particular one anywhere. Any suggestions? Does anyone have a test rig arrangement to test this out of the TV. Please help if you can. Norman

hello norman,
we certainly get oddball sets you and i, im currently working on a project to make a transformer tester for these beasts, years ago i built a cicuit that "rang" lopts, it was merely an oscillator and it was 90% effective, ill keep you posted, meanwhile i will have a look for a invertor panel, the number is familiar, be good

Hi Tony,

Re: Evesham psu

Sent you a few emails but perhaps your not at work so cant access them so thought I would post you on here.

Any chance of getting the board back by this friday? I'm changing over from virgin media to sky and the HD box is due to be installed saturday morning.  If not i'm going to have to postpone the installation. Please let me know ASAP as they need the tv working to set it up.

Any idea why the board failed again so quickly?

Thanks
Martin

Hi Tony, I have a lopt tester I use to test the transformers, it was in the Television magazine a few years ago and works very well. I sometimes think that with the tv's I get to look at I must have been very bad in a previous life, I look forward to hearing from you if you can dig up a board, many thanks, Norman
