Hello ..
I've only just discovered this forum and have had a look around and am impressed with what I've read so far..
I am a self employed and have a small repair shop ..
Currently I have an Hitachi 42PD9700 plasma in need of repair .. which is totally non functional ..
A check of the psu pcb revealed R004 (10 ohm ) open circuit ...but other than that nothing else ..
I bit the bullet an replaced this wire wound resistor ...and powered up the set ..
The main fuse failed fairly dramatically ...
Another check revealed D004 to have failed again ...and this time D018 (YG972S6) appears to have gone short circuit ..
I could not find a suitable replacement for this diode so fitted an FSU10B60 / 10amp 600v fast recovery ...salvaged from a different model ..scrap hitchi psu ...
Hoping this would provide a cure I powered up again ...
..once again the fuse failed ..as did R004 ...the diode however ..survived ..
I have grabbed a copy of the service manual ...but figured it couldn't hurt to ask if any other members have had this problem before ? and could perhaps suggest possible causes of this fault.
A new/replacement psu panel would almost certainly fix the set up ...but is very expensive ...so a repair at component level is preferable.
