Hi there, I am having problems with my MATSUI 42P900 plasma screen.
I have been getting these flashing pixels all over the screen now for the last few months.
it's most noticeable in the dark/black areas of the picture....looks like snow. ( like on old tv's when not tuned in right)
I have tweaked with the V up and V down pots on the back and got a great picture. however, coming back to turn it on again this morning and its back to the way it was.
I have located a repair kit for around £90 for all 3 boards on-line. but can anyone help me with any tips or can anyone suggest something that i may not have thought of yet before I go out and spend $$$
is this due to over heating?
could it be something else than the Ysus board?
I have sound and like I said, when I adjusted it with V settings, it seem to get a lot better but keeps returning to the state it was in before.
Anyone else had this problem?
any help would be really appreciated
Thanks guys.
cheers

Hi, I have had this problem a few times. Replace C36, C72 and C203. They are all 33uf surface mount caps near a small transformer towards the left hand side of the y sus board approx a third of the way down. When you have changed them let the set run for 15min then adjust your v up/dn controls and see how it goes. It is normal to get sparklies for a few minutes from cold as the pdp panel gets older, you may have to get a best compromise with the v up/dn controls. If you still have problems then panel replacement is the next step. Try SEME for the boards, I think they are quite a bit cheaper. Hope this helps, Norman

That's great, nice one....
so thats whats caursing the snowy/pixalation effect?
oh, i also noticed that its buzzing quite loud as well and earlier it just shut off for a while and i couln't turn it back on. the standby light was on but nothing else.....after a while I tried it again and it came on???
is all this to do with those caps then?
any idea where I can obtain these from?
C36, C72 and C203
cheers

Hi, I think when those caps are bad the little transformer is noisy. To be honest when I change the caps I use 47uf standard caps and bend the legs to fit the pads. Cheers norman.

righto mate,
had another look at the caps you mentioned and they look fine, none swollen, broken or burnt.
I don't have equipment to test the boards.
I think What I need to do is change over the boards.
well thanks for all your help pal, really do appreciate you helping me out
I'll let you know how I get on when I order the boards.
Thanks anyway mate,
