Title: Technika 40" HD-Ready TV Problem
Post by: catnamedog on June 10, 2009,12:27:38
Hi!
I bought a 40" Technika LCD-TV from Tesco over a year ago. Its great, except its started to develop a strange problem, which seems to be getting worse.
Its connected via the HDMI lead to a Virgin+ box. I used the 4-digit code supplied by Virgin to program the V+ remote so that it could control the TV volume - (Note: it doesn't control any other TV feature).
Now, whenever we use the V+ remote to say, change V+ channels the TV switches from the HDMI input to the standard analogue input, always on channel 77. I then have to either go into the TV setup menu and manually select the HDMI input, or switch the TV off and back on again and let the TV auto-detect the HDMI signal>
Alarmingly, when I phoned the Tesco helpline, I was told that they don't repair this TV at all! When I asked for a recommended repairer, the Tesco guy said that they don't keep a record of them, and that my choice was to either scrap the TV, or see if I could find anyone to help me.
I've tried all the standard "reset" things, including removing batteries, leaving the TV off overnight, and so on.
Can anyone help me please?

Hi, and thanks for your reply.
I've been using the same code since we bought the TV, but its only recently been showing this problem. I suspect that the problem lies in a faulty IR detector, because the TV shows the same fault sometimes when using the TV remote.

Hi
try taking hdmi lead out of v and virgin box, and just view the freeview channel built in tv .
The v+box aren't 100%.perfect.
