Title: Samsung LE40R74BDX/XEU
Post by: markc on August 19, 2009,04:43:03
I have a  problem with low brightness on this TV. Even with the brightness set at maximum some pictures are still quite dark. The picture does flash brighter when you change channels. Could some one tell me how to get into the service menu to see if there is an adjustment or if not to do a factory reset.
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark. The only info I can find is that c1820& c1824 could be faulty. Both are 27pF  6Kv,possibly on inverter stages.

Good luck,  tv john.

Thanks for that John. Both check out OK, but I will replace them if I can get some.
I have noticed that the brightness control has little or no effect, so I am thinking the fault may be in the control circuit.

Hi,

Thanks for the info on service mode.
The screen was set to the incorrect size and several other settings were also incorrect compred with the manual. Switching off auto brightness cured the low brightness fault.
This set had a new screen fitted by a Samsung service centre about 6 months ago!
They obviously spent several seconds setting it up!
