Hi Daz, I believe the lower drive pcb can damage the Y sustain board. Welcome to the world of plasma repair. Cheers, Norman

Hi Daz, Sorry about my confusion, (must get new glasses!). I would think the pdp panel is faulty if not just a faulty board. Will your supplier change it? What is the number on the board, I may have a used one to sacrifice and prove the pdp one way or the other. Cheers, Norman

hi norman
i got a replacement board from supplier, its has run ok for 8 hours  in the workshop, will give it back to customer and see how it goes.if it fails again i fear you may be right about the panel causing the fault.

quick update on this one
it failed as soon as the customer got it home,
fault is now split screen and double image (horizontal}
c16 popped
i checked the voltages again and found the 15v input was reading between 12v and 18v
this voltage look to come from the ysus pcb, this looks to be causeing the fault
but im not going to buy 2 new boards to find out
.bloody plasmas!

hello norman
thanks for the offer of a used board
i would like to get to the bottom of this fault,i suspect its just a few duff caps in the y sus causing the fault,so a sacrificial z sus pcb would be handy if you have got one, the z sus number is 6871qzh030b
fingers crossed.

Hi Daz, Sorry if I got your hopes up. I have two boards one is marked 6871QZH041A the other is 6871QZH049A. I don't know if they are interchangeable with yours. If you think one may do please let me know. Norman

Hi guys, one of these backfired on me today.Aug 12th-fitted new ZSUS,Oct 14th gone again and got a replacement from CHS ,fitted Teusday, blew a fuse again on Wednesday (on new pcb). Came to conclusion the YSUS was at fault and possibly C72 (33/25v) could be to blame.
I don't think they will want to pay for a new YSUS pcb and don't think CHS would stand me another pcb.

John.

Hi Tv john

i had one last week with faulty zsus board

first thing check voltage on pin 1 or 8 at the bottom of the zsus board must be 15v
if is to low 10-12v then change C72 on Ysus this bring up voltage to 15v

chassis pdp42v6 not pdp42v5

good luck

Hi Daz,

I always change Y and Z sus boards as a pair to be on the safe side or it can get a bit expensive.
I had a conversation with LG technical previously and they recommend you change them together.
