they are 10 ohm a type of safety resistors
-
Hi, As Sparky says nothing special,10 ohm 5 watt resistors, these are available from Farnell order code 1687942 in stock at 33p each. Cheers, Norman
-
Thanks for the info, are they both the same value as one says 5TA and the other 5W. They are both off the same power supply board so i assume they are different??
-
Hi, I think they are the same, just different manufacturers. If they have both gone there is probably a short somewhere. Norman
-
Thanks Norman
Yes i have done a bit of reasearch and there are 2 fets that are suspect, i have tested them both and one does have a short.
Cheers

Thanks for your help folks

Hi Vic,
Congratulations on the repair, and for the benefit of all - what TV was it that you mended, sounds a bit Sony to me ?
Curious - Chris.

Hi Chris
It was infact an old Hitachi 32" PD5200E Plasma, the picture quality is amazing for such an old set hence worth the fix.
I have another PD5200E with the same symptoms, i have replaced the 10ohm resistors and checked the fets that had blown on the fixed set but they where ok, so still looking for the short :wallbash: lol
Regards
Vic

Hi Vic, The failure of these resistors on the Hitachi plasma is a known fault. If you can't find a short replace the resistors and hope for the best. Norman
-
Hi Norman
Yes i have relplaced the resistor replaced the board and still no life :dubbio: so still searching for the suspect components.
As i am still new to all this i dont hold much hope.
Regards
Vic

Hi Vic and Norman,
As some of us are on about sharing fault details for mutual benefit, have checked back threads and find no mention of said resistors, but lots of other stuff on Hitachi 42PD5200, so give with the Q and R details.
Data base ready for an update - Chris.

Hi Chris, The two resistors R003,R005 go open circuit due to Q201 going s/c. Sometimes the resistors fail themselves although I have never been that lucky. This info is from the Hitachi website. Do you have access to the Hitachi site? Cheers, Norman.

Hi and Thanks Norman,
This Hitachi website you mention, is it open for freelance technicians ?
Chris.
