Title: Toshiba 46WH08B back projection
Post by: Turnip on November 19, 2009,09:41:23
Hi Folks,

Have one of these - well, it's still in the house, can't lift it. Tries to fire up then reverts to standby. Are there any known faults ?

  Thanks - Chris.

hi chris
if this set uses a teletext module with a painter chip on it unplug it,it fixes most faults
and dont need to replace as teletext signal will be turned off in a few weeks
hope this helps

Hi Chris,

The only thing I have had is the convergence IC's failing, you replace them with a uprated version Part Number 23135090 (STK392-110T). It's been a while since I worked on one of these but I think you may be able to disconnect the IC's and then switch on, and if the set works (with convergence errors) then the IC's have failed.
One word of warning, if the IC's have failed, you might find it is a long job setting up the convergence after you have changed the IC's! So make sure you allow for that in your quote.

Hi, Daz and Brian, any many thanks,

Always had the feeling that if a telly is too heavy to lift - pass it on to you younger folks.

Cust  might well be phoning you next - Chris - a post hernia hero
