Hi,
I have a Sony KD32DX51U that does not Power Up although it does show a red LED on the front that flashes twice. I've looked around for some info on the possible cause. I think the chassis number is FE2D but I'm getting lots of conflicting info from searching the web. The best info that I've received so far for the FE2D chassis is "SURGE,STBY R618 (270k)", so I guess that this means that the resistor has gone open circuit but I am unsure as to what the resistor is doing, I'm also unable to locate it on the circuit board which causes me to think the chassis number that I've been given is incorrect. A circuit diagram would help but I'm having difficulty sourcing one on the web. Can anybody help with info on this set?
Many thanks

Hi Zippy43,
Don't have a shematic but have the note that two flashes can indicate an 'over current' situation and R618(270k) in the excess current network had increased to 470k.
Best of luck - Chris.

Hi Zippy,
If those resistors are ok then check line output transistor isnt short circuit, if it is you will need to change the line output transformer. If the transistor is ok then i have had a faulty Ic601( MCZ3001DB)
causing all kind of fault codes, sometimes you can heat it up and freeze it to "trigger it to work" But you may just have to try one. I have had this IC fail on numerous occasions.

Hi Brian,
Had this one recently where a duff IC601 didn't fire up - S/by OK, but nothing else - where were you, in times of need ?
Suspect taking, reasonably, another well deservered holiday, perhaps - Chris.

Hi chris,
Holidays, what are they? Oh yes I remember that would be Christmas day!
Sorry I wasnt around to help with your fault, if I get really busy I just don't get time.
IC601 can trigger different fault codes, if you do a lot of Sony it might be worth keeping one in stock.
Merry Christmas!
Brian
