Title: Panasonic NV-VHD1 - DVD
Post by: Turnip on November 24, 2009,11:49:52
Hi folks,

Have this machine where DVD section accepts a disc but doesn't spin - gives a code F498.

As some folks justly complain when known faults are not revealed -

'No disc - laser not lighting' - checked IC5201 where pins 3/5 were low, and A+5 was low at 1.3v. The +5v comes from the unregulated +6v which was OK, Q33011 was O/C.

I my case, checked Q33011, and the 5v was OK.

   Any thoughts - Chris.

Hi Chris, The usual problem for F498 fault code is to resolder IC37001 and IC37004 on the mpeg board. I hope this helps you out. Norman

Thanks Norman,

Will tear it apart and have a go with my soldermop - Chris.

Later -  Job done, re-flowed most everything, and now plays DVDs - Thanks again Norman.

Must admit having trouble actually seeing pins clearly after re-flowing, note that CPC does a USB microscope - anyone tried one, or other serious magnifiers ?
