Hi Guys
I hope someone has been here before me.... the set was looked at by a collegue, who proclaimed that the set needed a replacement PSU.
After checking CHS and falling off the chair, I ordered a replacement from a well known supplier of panels - used, but tested with warranty.
I have refitted the "new" PSU and low and behold, the red led sits and flashes rapidly and the set wont start. The flashes are rapid, and very hard to count - probably around 15 flashes.
As I had not originally tested the set on arrival, I cannot confirm if this was the original fault or another... duh! Next step is to refit the old PSU, but that does not tell me if its the PSU or another fault...
If anyone has any ideas, or, knowledge of voltages I can test on the PSU (no markings on the PCB) I would be very greatful.
The PSU is a TNP8EPL50 - Euras suggested a few failing components on the PSU, but they appeared ok. This is a picture of the board ... http://flattvparts.co.uk/bmz_cache/4/4bd6294378832f4a3ebcdbc8b74a53b2.image.312x359.jpg
(from another website - not where I ordered this one from - FlatTVParts were out of stock!)
Any help or advice most welcome!

I have same tv in for repair at the moment, with the same symptoms. The inverter board is faulty.
Try powering tv up with the inverter board unpluged, if it comes on and has sound and a picture is just about visible if a strong light is directed on to the screen the inverter is faulty. Also check smd diode on rear of the original power supply board that is in line with the supply to the inverter board, on my board it had gone s/c. Sorry can`t remember component ref number.
