The remote for my Toshiba 40XF355D has been working intermittently for a few weeks and has now stopped working altogether. I've bought a replacement remote but that doesn't work either so it must be a fault with the tv. Could the ir receiver be faulty and if so is it easy to replace ?
Also, just before the remote stopped working I noticed that when switching the tv off from the remote that the standby light would go off after a while and then the tv had to be switched back on from the buttons on the tv itself as it wouldn't switch back on from the remote. Is this fault related to the ir receiver or is it a seperate issue ?

I've just repaired a Goodmans tv with a similar fault.
Mine turned out to be a poor crimped connection on the plug where the lead from the sensor plugs into the main board. Found by tracing the signal from the IR receiver using my oscilloscope.
