Hi, I have a prob with my Philips 28PT4475 tv. I turned it on the other day via the standby button and heard what i can only describe as an "electrical shorting" sound. The standby LED illuminated briefly then went out completely. I switched the set off and on again, this time "moving" the button around slightly - the LED stayed on and i was able to turn on the tv via the remote! Can anyone please help me as to the cause of this? Is a possible fault with the actual switch or dry joints???

Hi Phil
The mains switches can be a problem in these sets. A visual inspection of the switch often shows that its been arcing and overheating (discolouration or distortion of the body of the switch). Switches are available from CHS. Check under order code P140124 for a picture of switch before ordering. Other possibilities are dry joints, or the line output transformer arcing.
Regards
John.

Thanks for your advice John, I bought the switch you recommended from CHS, and installed it.
Problem solved and the set and switch are working well again.
You have saved me a lot of money, so thank you once again!
