Title: Philips CRT 32DW6557/05 factory reset?
Post by: smifffy111 on April 16, 2010,15:19:49
Hi, My daughter has the mentioned TV but the internal digital tuner will not detect the majority of tv channels since digital switchover.  I have connected a separate set top box and that tunes OK so the ariel is not the problem.  Can the tv be reset so that on the initial turn on it goes through the full installation process?

Hi,

On most sets there is an initial installation facility in menu - Chris.

Not heard of any issues with this chassis, I'm not in a DSO area but I have heard of issues with some Sanyo and Philips LCD chassis in some DSO areas

Try holding down both the vol+ and vol- buttons on the set for 10 seconds, the menu will appear then the set will restart and it should take you to the welcome screen.

Don't discount the aerial though as the signal is tapped off from inside the analogue tuner to feed the digital tuner, if the signal is borderline you may miss some channels. Remember with an external digibox you're feeding the digital tuner first. That Philips digital tuner is an older design and not the most sensetive.

These tv models will not receive the new "8k" dtv tranmission format, seedigitaluk.co.uk/2kequipment).
You will have to buy a freeview box and connect via av input.
Freeview boxes are cheap enough these days.
Any older equipment without the digital "tick" may have problems post-switchover.
