Title: SONY DAV-SC5 flashing standby and other faults
Post by: waxhead on May 01, 2010,19:01:56
i have a sony dav-sc5 which if you turn off via the switch or with the remote it just flashes Standby all the time and never shutsdown, only way to turn it off is at the plug.

also it wont accept any discs, it did do and then would get stuck in the machine, but it wont take them at all now. its slot loading btw.

any info would be great

thanks

hi waxhead
had similar probs on an older model, smd caps on control pcb under dvd unit or main cpu. both faults were thermaly sensitive, perhaps a similar prob here? so get the hairdryer and freezer spray out and give it a go. not much help i know, but you sounded desprate.
good luck

Hi folks,

Sony do an awful lot of stuff, so some idea of what it is, might be useful - checked for 'Dav'  and couldn't find a thing.

Some data-base empathy might be useful - Chris (older member) trouble with stairs  Esp - with Sony - tend to forget why I searched - comes to everyone, eventually, I guess.
