Title: LE40R88BD dark shading
Post by: pa38 on May 03, 2010,07:34:19
Hi I have a Samsung LE40R88BD and it has developed dark vertical bands, this is a screen fault as far as I am aware, is it a possible repair or is it not cost effective? we bought it in October 97 so is it worth approaching samsung?

Hi,

It's well known that a known frequent fault helps extend manufacturers warranty well past initial one   year guarantee period, should you feel that fault is in that catagory - go for it - Chris

The more research I do the more and more this looks to be a common fault, and I thought all electrical items had to covered for two years, so I am just outside this. But would you expect an expensive item (TV) to last longer than just over two years without developing a fault???? Sounds like the start of an interesting exchange

Hi Sparky,

Had that thought with LCD's too, but remembering 'Instant On' Hitachi tubes and those big Tosh with Chinese digital probs, thought to venture- Chris.
