Title: LG 32LB75 - Invertor burnup
Post by: Turnip on May 09, 2010,11:34:34
Hi folks,

Have one of these where the smell led to the problem. Have done board repairs before but bit doubtful with this one - anyone done one, cheapish - Chris

Hi, and thanks Sparky,

Guess when cleaned up will look better, determined to make a pound, even if H&S folks are doubtful - poss won't see past clipboards - Chris.

PS - Admit, for folks who don't know - H&S are frequently present at Council tips - we love 'em, but with politics as it now is, they might well be unemployed futurewise - awful sad.

Recycling - sensibly - might just make a difference - no Greek, but their retirement policy was nifty - bit more than 55 - Chris.

Thanks Sparky,

Will try make a groat first -  Well in Norfolk, it's that or Turnips or Turkey Twizzlers. Ain't you glad you're a Midlander.  You have the rain - we, the wind - Tory's are us, with thier natural wind - yet again.

Suffering, as ever, politically, Chris.

Hi Chris
Looks like a dry joint on the transformer thats been arcing in a similar fashion to many a crt tv scan plug! Fingers crossed that all it needs is a good scrub up, any carbonised areas removing and then hot wiring.
Hey - just like the old (happy) days!
Regards
John

Hi John,

You were right about the cause, think could clean the board but on inspection transformer is cremated beyond use.

In those 'happy old days' you could get the bits, note Chas Hyde has only the RCU.

Cheers - Chris.

Hi and thanks Sparky,

Tried Seme-Nedis, no joy, just 1 item at 89 pence shown, they don't say what it is but probably not the transformer. Wonder if HR do anything ?

Tried HR Diemen sites but my Spanish extends only to 'thanks' -  Should take more sun holidays but repair work currently won't cover it - Catch 22, yet again.

Thanks again - Chris.

Hi folks,

Board cleaned up and Tony's transformer fitted - All OK. Guys at the local tip will be well pleased. Incidentally Tony, this cost you, so how's about a pint - chequewise, as they gave me a nice LG plasma (100R feed dries) in hopes of a repair.

Thanks all - Chris.

Hi Tony, and thanks.

It's terrible hard being a Hero I guess, but there again I wasn't dipped in the Styx.

Apologies to Homer (guess he won't care too much) - On with the next LG - Chris
