Hi folks,
Have one of these where 'Disk Check' never completes. Have rough checked PS for caps and appropriate voltages - all seem well.
Any thoughts ? Chris.

Hi Chris,
These units were not classed as dealer repairable, so they would go back to Sharp when under guarantee, so i haven't seen any, but i would start with formatting the HDD which you should find in the 'Recording configuration' section of the menu's. The password is usually 0000
Hopefully that will work if not you may have to try reloading the firmware
Hope this helps

Hi Brian and thanks.
Machine doesn't get to a state where RCU is operational so one for the tip perhaps - Chris.

Hi Dax, and thanks for the thought.
Think to attach Sharp HD to spare computer and see how it looks. Matter of interest took a couple of HD from BT DIT97. Found they worked well as secondary discs but couldn't load Windows - wonder why ? - Chris.
-
probably wrong type of file partition, try removing partition and setting up as a ntfs partition then format.
got out fixing computers a few years back so a bit rusty but a good guess

Hi Daz, and thanks for your thoughts.
Fettling computers for me is a daily biz as no-one wants unfashionable tellies mended. Sadly no-one wants nifty 3ghz XP's either, they all want '7's and we have no discs.
Think to go Morrison's on checkout, at least could get that Neon RCU with discount, but don't know if smile will hold past the first ancient.
Guess it won't - Chris.

WHAT!
a secure job with a regular income, payed holidays, a pension, sick pay ,staff canteen, employee discount, p.a.y.e, and as much free almost out of date food as you can eat!
ARE YOU MAD!
its the misery of self employment for me.

Thanks Daz,
You might probably hold that 'Morrison Grin' 'till meal times - and if so can you get me that Neon RCU - with discount. If not, well our Sparky is in real need of 'Le Grisby' - or a job, with money or so he says.
Thanks Jayrod, will try as you suggest - Chris.

Hi folks, and thanks for all the help.
Put PVR HD in computer as slave - it wasn't recognised so presumably duff. Fitted spare 160Gb in PVR, machine did a quicky format and all well.
Thanks again - Chris.
