Cheap LCD portable, model L216/22B. back light comes on for a few seconds then no back light.  Suspect inverter PCB, checked fuse and its okay.  Any ideas of fault & parts source?

The inverter is tripping as it's detecting a fault condition.  Could be many things, faulty tube, faulty transformer, even faulty capacitors or just dry joints.  Sometimes it's even just worn out of spec tubes.

Have a look at the inverter board and post the chip used. Often there are ways of overriding the protection circuits so it will at least stay going long enough for you to work out what the problem really is.
