Hi folks,
Have one of these where after a Darfon invertor transformer job, noticed that set came on from cold, always with backlight but no picture - from warm always OK.
Picture could only be seen after pressing S/by then on several times. Thought caps so heated most everything - made no difference, but S/by and on does.
Thought to attach piccy - any ideas - Chris.

Hi Chris,
we have the exact same problem....I have changed the PSU with a known working one (from a TV that had screen damage).....no difference. None of the caps on the original PSU looked bad. In the near future I will organise a 'swop it and see' scenario using the other boards from the 'broken' one. (by the way thats where the stand I offered you came from )
We found that the best way to get the picture is to 'turn on' from S/B using the remote ....leaving on for several minutes (ie no pic but sound) switch off....switch on ....and usually the picture appears. This is the only fault....everything else is fine. It is almost as if 'something' needs to warm up first ....will probably try the inverter board next and then the input board (scarts)
As soon as I find the culprit I'll let you know
Regards David

Hi Dave, and thanks again.
Nice to know that others suffer - Offering me your stand seems a mite pessimistic for a minor problem.
Have the feeling that as at least two of us are troubled by a Sanyo with a similar troubles, some helpful chaps will check a known european site and feed us the 'answer'
Not 42, tried it - Chris.

Hi again Tulwar,
Would say Dave but 80% of Quuq so named.
'Stellaman' (Dave) suggested that caps C6661(10/16) and C6662(100/6.3) on main board under the FTV panel should be replaced. Did mine and all seems OK.
Think to attach a piccy as took a while to find 'em - Values were close but ESR rather high.
Pity about that stand but - All the best - Chris.

just noticed chris is after a stand for this model, have found a 26 inch sanyo on scrap pile, perhaps tulwar could take a pic of his stand with a ruler in the pic to see if holes are in the same place, may be compatable?
a long shot , but worth a poke with a stick

Hi Sparky,
How it was, was that Stellaman needed a mainboard for Bush IDLCD32TV16HD and I had a set with duff PS/Invertor - he read my Sanyo query, told me about the caps, I replaced them, found they did the job and announced it with a piccy.
No Cloak and Weller stuff here - Chris - Thanks for the stand thought, Daz.
PS Out of interest notice that although Analogue is OK from the start, Freeview is awful iffy 'til the set warms up stating 'No Signal' on most channels - Have that capacitor feeling again as the main board is stuffed full of them around the reg area.

Hi Chris
All sorted

Hi Sparky,
You might be sorted with those occasional Capitals, I still have those Freeview and stand problems - Pouring a Norfolk homebrewed glass, yet again - Chris.

Chris, don't know anything for that fault, get the hairdryer out......if you've still got some hair left. :c023:

Hi Chris,
first of all....Happy New Year.....sorry to bring this thread up again, but didn't realise that the thread had continued after I had last posted. Thanks Chris, had changed the power board and inverter board but the 'starting' problem persisted and ended up just putting up with the inconvenience. Will try the cap change ....please excuse my ignorance (I'm a bit of an electronic newby) but the type and ratings are unfamiliar to me. Could you please tell me what type of cap / rating ,are those that need replacement ?
Just to add, that by rating I mean't regards ESR (I'm assuming low).... the type of 'solid' cap (there seems to be 2 different types that look the same) .....and not uF / V . Would quality, low ESR radial electrolytic caps be OK as replacements ? I would rather change like for like.....but the solid type (with the correct ratings) tend to be available, but in quantity.....and I don't need that many.
Kind Regards David
PS I believe the stand is still available if you are interested
