Thanks Dave,
Had one myself in a Vestel machine labelled Sharp. Shoved in an Ex Telecom PVR HD, it asked to format it, did so and all was OK.
Vestel was nice to work on with real metal chassis and screws and integral P/S and tact buttons, Sagem has clicky plastic, where if you get it right it flys apart over workshop floor, has no control buttons (no RCU supplied) and a 12v 2a power supply (not supplied either)
Hoped for 'dump it' advice I could show customer - will lie as have several Vestel PVRs kicking about and they are real good gear, even better than Humax, some say.
Thanks Dave - Chris.

Hi chris, had a sagem in recently with same symptoms, the 12v adaptor was the cause. It checked out ok with no load but when plugged in to pvr output voltage dropped, faulty caps inside.

Thanks Phil,
You will note that I didn't have original PS, and had to try fire up with ranch PS - Analogue and made in France - makes one shudder, smells of cheese and surrender (thrown in local tip) but works.
Glad it wasn't Philips, and full of drive cords and hope, but no go - Chris.

Hi Wop,
No troubles, but if eventually becoming suicidal may go for your DVD choices.
After checking your titles, my life still looks awful good - Thanks - Chris.
