Title: Toshiba 15V330DB - Backlight
Post by: Turnip on August 26, 2010,11:59:59
Hi Folks,

Have tried this before under Vestel - not one reply. Can also be Waltham DTV1500, Mikomi LCD15796 and Technica LCD151-107 - possibly many more cheapies as well.

Backlight dies after a second or two. Some folks talk of small blue ceramic caps curing the problem - have tried it on three but no luck so far, guess it's general as I got two in one day from recycling.

Any thoughts ?  - Chris.

Hi Brian and thanks.

Where are these folks talking Q300  ? - haven't heard them on Quuq - possibly my Classic FM earplugs re-playing 'Brief Encounter' music again preventing another repair job.

Confess, that in later life he did 'Sir Henry at Rawlinson's End'  Triffic - Chris.

Hi,

I can confirm that replacing the 3 caps mentioned - c354, c355, c356 - all 12pf / 3KV cured mine - a Mikomi LCD15796. The caps must be breaking down under voltage - they measure perfectly when tested out of circuit

I found someone selling replacement caps on eBay - a few £s for twenty five of them

Cheers, Ian

Hi folks,

Tried those puffy caps after some folks said they were suspect - not for me, the 1K generally did the biz but have come later to supect the inverter trannie as some other PS/Inv boards seemed to do the biz.

Confess these sets are crap anyway - esp the analogue versions.

Just trying make a pound -  Must try E/boot sales - Chris.
