Title: Vestel 17MB12-2
Post by: Turnip on October 18, 2010,06:18:23
Hi folks,

Have a Technica LCD37-207 where blue s/by led doesn't show. PS 17PW20-2 has been replaced with a known good one and fault remains where s/by supply is low and fluctuating.

Back threads point to a main board fault - wonder if anyone has a 17MB12-2 to sell ?  Chris.

Hi Davenjax,

Had another one in with no S/by led and S/by P/S pulsing - noticed that the side S/by button had a latch, so pressed it - Blue s/by led came on. Set didn't work 'cos the 2 x 15n caps were duff.

Made me think about the other - pressed the button and all OK (Weekend Grandchildren pushing buttons - as they do - should have thought) Chris.

Hi again Davenjax,

Expected some observation as to my likely 'Saga' discount as an old technician going totally GaGa not thinking to press the (FK'g) on-off switch, even with dozens of Granchildren with thousands of thier small fingers.

You're a decent fellow who comprehends human error - esp in Helston - Hic -  Chris.

Hi Chris, Did you get a board? I have one which I know powers up but there was no pic. Don't exactly know whether there was a fault elswhere or no. You're welcome to it. Doug

Hi Dougc,

I admitted in my last that I was a total enebriated prat in that grandchildren (not mine) had pressed that stupid side S/by button that turns off the S/by LED, but not the mains.

The next set to come in (another bloody Vestel) had it's S/by switch switched off - it was by then morning so I sussed it in a 'Saga' moment, then found those famous 15nf caps all bulgy - my first.

Went back to my house Vestel, pressed that stupid button, and was lost to 'Yesterday' all day - Chris.

Hi Dougc,

Eventually read your last B4 spammers ruled. If you still have that mainboard, would like to give it a try.

PS - Originally 'sold' this set where the sound went crap B4 customer paid. He loves the picture but his cash, rather more.
