Hi folks,
Got a couple of these where there was no backlight. After doing Vestel 17IPS (including the 'duff tube' 1k on pin 1) mods found that backlights came on rather dim but after a few mins recovered near normal brilliance with occasional flickering.
Tube ends were blackish (as per 'Sparky's findings) - who sells replacement tubes - cheapish ? - Chris.

Hi Sparky,
Few folks mention tube failure, but since you did have been saving all those wobbly screen smash tubes.
Have the feeling that generally it's usually small screen Vestel trouble.
Am I right ? Well, all these other long bendy tubes are worriesome - Chris

Hi Daz and many thanks,
Recently have had several small screen with various Vestel IPS Type P/S and what appears to be duff tubes, where you can bodge the drive sensing for a bit more life.
Tore quite a few small Tv and monitors screens apart to check for substitute tubes and found them mostly black at the ends, even when working normally, and of course all different lengths with singles and doubles.
Suspect tube changes on small screen sets with all those different plastic diffuser sheets to be as sensible as a Titanic return ticket.
Happy to go for your remains though - just to prove something - Thanks again - Chris.

there on there way, bit of a pain to package these things but tried my best, sure the gentle caress of the hard working men and women at the post office will see them delivered in tact?
ends slightly black on these ones as well, but worth a try, look forward to finding out the results.

ps. no money need exchange hands this time as you’re in credit from the last time, thanks.

Thanks Daz,
Tubes arrived today - well packed and intact -now fitted - many thanks . Pic was initially dark but over a few minutes brightened up somewhat, much like the original tubes.
Hoping for a set with a different fault, as though problem seems tubes, would like to confirm as Vestel Power/Inverters seem prone to the problem.
Started saving tubes from all those large screen smashes at the local tips. Bet I'll never use any, but at least am now aware of the way they're configured, and how easily they break, easing them from the holders - Thanks again - Chris.

Hi Sparky,
Have not had much trouble with small screen CCFL to date - done lots of monitors/small screen stuff and although backlights dropping out after a few seconds is the most popular problem it's almost always caps and/or dries.
Then came Vestel IPS power/invertors - every one I've seen has 'duff tubes' - haven't yet seen a good one. Beginning to smell another 'Norfolk' turkey - Chris.
PS - Hi Sparky, again - suggest move fat wallet to a more comfortable area - did it me'self in the 70's and been in constant pain since since 'Lot's o' money' became old Tory history.
Now it's different, but somehow the same - discuss ? - Chris.
