As it says, an LG 42" LCD model no 42LG5010
Whole left had half of picture is static coloured vertical pixel lines. Right half of picture is perfect.
I left it with the customer for now as I'm suspecting a panel fault and hence not repairable.
Any thoughts?
It's only 2 years old, so I have suggested he tries going back to the retailer with a claim under the sale of goods act, many are successful in getting a free repair if they shout that loud enough and long enough.

Quite possibly. While I did have the back off the set, I didn't get the cover off the tcon board as it would be impossible to do that without it being obvious a seal had been broken. Since I'm advising the customer to try a sale of goods act claim first, I didn't want the set to appear "tampered with"
If he gets nowhere with the sale of goods act then I'll have another look.
I was just curious if anyone had managed to fix a fault like this without replacing the panel?
