Hi Quak,

Usually P/S secondary caps near that heat sink. Had several FPf's through and only other faults were - Chopper S/C with R39 resistor O/C and secondary double diode S/C one side.

All the best - Chris.

hi, thanks for reply have just changed caps c6 and c26 both 22ouF  and powered up ok on 1-3 startup, 4th attempt it failed again so will try your suggestions, note, heating up caps makes no difference also mains cap holds charge for a while when failure to start which suggests startup ic not running , cheers quak

Hi Quak,

Recent fun with some Vestel 'IPS' Power/Inverters reminded me that resistors to discharge the main cap aren't compulsory - but awful nice.

There's a tendancy when power supplies can't run for some reason (and start-up is taken from the middle of the mains bridge) Main cap stays fully charged to give any Health and Safety chaps a pulse to power their clip-boards for early pension claims.

As a thought - don't have any spare boards kicking about at the moment - have nice piccies though - Chris.

Hi,

Like Dave I go for a pigmy on short wires - then I know I'm safe - Chris.
