Hi folks,
Have one of these where the picture seems to comprise of a left hand bit and a right hand bit. Set starts off with a slight flicker affecting either side but separately.
Eventually LH side loses picture content with just blue horizontal flashing bands, RH side keeps the picture but has horiz bands and thin white vertical flashes.
From the rear, the backlights seem quite steady - any thoughts ? - Chris.

Hi Sparky,
Tried Scart out and that was OK. Tried various inputs and found that on certain FTV channels and certain adverts the screen was perfectly normal, but when picture content changed the problem returned.
Another interesting thing is that with DVD input (those first pics) the interference was horizontal but with FTV input it became vertical (as per third pic)
Am getting a main-board feeling about this one - really bright screen - no probs, darkish screen - it goes wild - Chris.
PS - Then when set got really hot - 4th piccy

Hi folks,
Thanks a lot for that. You will have noticed the fault seems very heat sensitive in a progressive manner so will attack it with freezer, failing that wait for a screen smash - shouldn't take long.
Thanks again - Chris.
PS - Noticed that LVDS runs really hot and seems to have two large chips, one for each side of the screen perhaps. Expended lots of freezer about the set, only difference was on LVDS panel where fault became slightly less. Eventually on test, the screen went dark and LVDS ran cool - guess an on-board fuse gone - ah well, feel if I get a new one, will fit a fan in the LVDS housing as the rest of the set runs quite cool.
Could be of course, that the fault caused excessive LVDS temperatures - will see.

Hi folks,
As an update got £32 LVDS from Ebay - fitted it - same split screen - merde. Will go check those crystals, with a hammer.
Ever relaxed - Chris.
