Title: Bush LY2211wcw intermittent fault
Post by: johnboy183 on February 21, 2011,12:33:49
Hi,
I picked up one of these quite a while ago as stuck in standby (ie solid red light and no response to remote or buttons). Having replaced all of the powerboard caps as a matter of course without success I was almost going to give up on it but when I reassembeled it it all sprung to life and continued to work (all functions) for some 6 weeks or so (on for extended periods every day and switched on and off many times a day). A couple of days ago I tried to switch on and back to the original fault ie solid red light and no functions. The only clue I have is that when it is working the BL-ON lead between main and power board shows 4.9 volts and 0 volts when it fails. I have tried a different TFT panel to eliminate that and checked out the transistors and transformwr solder joints and cant even find a dry joint anywhere (which could have explained it)
Any ideas to point me towards would be very greatly appreciated before I tear my hair out completely!
regards
John

HI J/B,

You will have noticed that your Bush has been featured within the last hour.

Give us some piccies, and/or board numbers -

Otherwise we just tap the table

Still a Humanist, even with that 'New Society' - real can of (mostly long dead) worms - Chris.

The main board is exactly that same as in the post by Connor 2121 just before mine (and that has a pic of the board attached). The Power board is Phihong PCA060FB-011 (no photo as yet but will either take one later or get a one of the net.
Cheers

hi johnboy, after taking my set apart mine also went into standby, i figured out it was just something to do with the 5 red wires connected to the fascia on the front, thier seems to be an itermittent fault with the little c/b wer the infared eye is situated. ( well mine had 1 anyway) try unplugging and re plugging. might work. no harm in trying!

I wouldn't surprise me if that may be the cause somehow as one of the first times I got the set to work was when I tried plugging in a IR board from another set - although it was the wrong one there was a click and then the set fired up. I then replaced the small zener diode on the proper little board so whether it all stems from there I dont know. I think I will look at that small board again in case the zener is keep blowing.
thanks for the idea
John

Like you I am an amatuer repairman (started on flat panel PC Monitors and fixed some 50 to date). Over the years I have learn't to install and repair  just about everything from cars to plumbing and bricklaying to welding. I dont (as yet ) know anything about childlocks but if I had I would have used them to lock up my two before they spent all my money and went off to Uni and to have kids!!
By the way this Bush model is also rebadged under Haier and Wharfedale so I have included their user manuals for you in case they help with the child lock problem. At least knowing the other two suppliers will let you widen your search over the net as well.
Cheers
