Title: Sony KLV-L32M1 - Dead
Post by: Turnip on March 05, 2011,10:41:02
Hi folks,

Have one of these, dead as P. Dodo - note nothing in back threads. Plug in the mains and there is a slight clunk but no led -  Anyone had the problem - Chris - Thanks.

Saturday - Found DC feeds OK to main dual fets and also to STR-A6169 S/by chip - no S/by output however or shorts evident, so after a chip.

Tuesday - Chip fitted - no output, think up-load a shematic - might be those caps.

Hi

Check D663/D664 for Leakage

Cheers

Thanks a heap Kevin,

D663 (50k) and D664 (5m)  Had checked them B4 but in circuit - never learn. Any idea what sort'a diode as they just have a red cathode band and I don't yet have the correct shematic - UF4007 perhaps  ?

Again thanks - Chris.

Hi and thanks again,

Diodes replaced and now some voltage on cathode of D663, none on D664 and no 5v s/by output.

Anyone got a shematic as thinking about those opto-isolators but don't know quite how they figure  ?

'It's a Sony' - They don't tend to say that too much in ads these days after that Smart Engine (Samsung VCR eeprom biz, and even Toshiba who had that cool android add, (Again not seen recently) used the same deck) - made us a pound though, sometimes every year 'till folks got wise.

Suspect Sammy shares are the biz.

Note that CHS do a P/S for a mere £230 + post - only our Sparky could afford one - Xmas list 2012 perhaps for all Quuq correspondents - Chris.

Hi again

Check R667/668 10R and R675 47R

Hopefully should get you going now

Hi Kev, and thanks again,

Will check those resistors tomorrow, but would almost strangle some innocent Quorn for a shematic - mending for cash is great, but knowing how you did it - True Quuq - Chris.

Hi
Just a thought overnight.
If the resistors checkout okay, ensure that the previously mentioned diodes are the original Sony type
as equivalent types may be unsuitable. Especially as you have proved the diodes are indeed leaky.

I have repaired a number of these sets and in all cases diode replacement and or resistors provides a total cure. I may be able to get you a schematic if necessary.

Hi Kev,

You must have known I'd sneak in UF4007s just because I have heaps of 'em. Resistors checked out OK so off for the Mcoy diodes.

Thanks again - Chris.

Hi again Kev,

Genuine diodes fitted but no go, have 15v on cathode of D663 but nothing on D664 or D681.  Should you have a shematic of the S/by area, would be most grateful - Chris.

Hi

Sorry you're still struggling. Here's the schematic, screengrab best I could do sorry for quality.

If I manage to improve the quality I will repost

Good Luck

Kevin

Hi Kevin and Keith,

Thanks a lot for those clear shematics - no excuse for failure now -

Might just be a while though, as edgy white leds are now the biz  - Chris.

PS - Attach a pic that might give a smile - did for me

Hi again,

Armed with a good shematic found nothing wrong in S/by power but it fails to start. Having changed all the diodes, electrolytics and STRA6169 - measured all resistors. Voltages are correct apart from IC661 pin 2 where it is 14v instead of 21.5v and s/by o/p where it is zilch.

Wonder if s/by transformer T661 might have s/c turns - anyone with inductance readings ? - Chris.

Hi all
Wondering if this was ever solved, same thing happened to me.

Hi Jon,

Should have said - Found initial new replacement STRA6169 duff, changing it did the biz.

Happy (and profitable) New year folks - Chris.
