I have a Toshiba DVR19DTKB2 which switches itself off randomly.
The fault is worse when the unit is first switched on. it may turn itself off several times in the first few minutes. it appears to get better after that.
Has anyone come across this fault & know of a possible cause?
thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,
Guess it's a PVR - Don't have it listed - how about some piccies so Quuq folks can ascertain actual maker - Chris.

Hello,
We have had a few faults on the power-supply (smd diodes short etc.) but not this fault.
Sounds like a hairdryer/freezer job,
Good luck!
John.

Hi John,
You never confirmed actual make or duff P/S diode identity, or even a piccy ? - Guess not a real Toshiba,
Who Knows ? Thinking of Quuq back threads for future searchers - Just a thought - Chris.

Hi Chris,
This is a DVD/VCR, and as you say not a genuine Toshiba.
The VCR section uses the FUNAI deck (the one you can't get at,
unless you unsolder all the connecting cables!).
The diode I had problems with was D1035, on the print side, of the
power-supply, and was a SK39. Radiospares stock similar diodes.
Regards,
John.

Hi
If this is a combi DVD/VCR which I think it is, then I have had this fault before, but I'm not sure it's this particular model, I have had the LED that shines on to the sensors giving out weak amount of light, there is no way of testing it im afraid, you just have to change it, but ive had it fail a few times on Toshiba's

Hi Brian,
Had one where the Funai deck only cut after a few seconds due to dust between centre 'tape present LED' through reel idler gear to the 'things happening' photodiode - it seemed to feel nothing was happening and cut to s/by.
Seems reasonable, but still hate Funai and Philips - Chris.
