Hi All, I`m fault finding my ps50c96hdx and am trying to establish if the display has failed which is likely.
i`m certain after testing that both upper and lower buffers have at least one ic dead although there is no visible damage . My question is that with the y-sus board removed and then powering up the tv i can measure voltages on the y buffers that must be supplied by the panel itself as far as i can see. this is not stored power being discharged it is definately a supply voltage from somewhere and as they are now connected only to the panel , that is the source. Does this either confirm or otherwise the viability of the panel?
I hope somebody can shed some light on this for me please.
Many Thanks Dave in a rather drizzly Cornwall.

If one of the ics on the buffer board is burnt, then that buffer needs replacing. Also remove the y sustain board & check all the power fets (mounted on the heatsinks) for being short circuit,if one is s/c then replace the board. The pdp will probably be ok if a fet is faulty, though its not 100% certain. If both buffer boards are
faulty(with burn,t ic on each) then the pdp is more likely to be faulty The boards are available from "charles hyde & sons" or "partfinder" You will have to phone them with model nomber & serial number(Tel 01709 303068) because theres 4 different versions.Hope this is of help. Graham.

Thanks for the information Graham. Because of my suspician that the panel is dead i was trying to confirm so before buying replacement boards , hence my trying to establish if a functioning panel should be supplying any voltage back to the upper and lower buffer boards. I do have a failed 88n30w fet on the y-sus but as i said dont want to replace anything if the panel is no longer functioning. I do appreciate your input , many thanks again. Dave
