Hello all,
I have acquired a Matsui 32" LCD TV. It has the dreaded blinking standby light.
I have purchased the repair kit for this board, replacing the caps and transistor, but it is still blinking....
Does anyone have any other options?
I was told to check the smoothing cap, but I really don't trust myself against such high voltage.
Many thanks in advance.

Have you cheked/changed C877 & C878 last one tends to go low (12n 630V), some supplies use one capacitor C878 27n 1000V, C877 not installed.

Hello,
Yep checked both 877/878 both are fine - It has had the kit09 fitted to it, so all new caps/IC... Still flashing on standby though.. Can't for the life of me think what else it can be - Failing this, I will have to purchase a whole new 17pw20 v1 board....
Any other ideas?
Many thanks

Smothing block... The large cap? I don't know if I trust myself checking that! lol

yep thats the one , is usually a 150uf 450v or a 220uf 450v, you will need an esr meter to check it properly, i would just change it, it will probably discharge if psu is left unplugged for a day or so,
good luck

Hi TFC,
Still wondering about those 15nf/630 caps - well - duff main cap usually initially causes noisy operation then eventual PFC pop.
Did your kit (no details given) include those 15nf caps ?
Just a thought - Chris.

Hi Sparky,
Getting to the age where most everything is going, apart from me tellies - Ah well.
Sure 'tis a good plan to double check on those caps - Chris
